2022 Medicare Part B Premiums Released
Posted on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 11:36 AM
Last Friday, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) revealed Medicare Parts A and B premiums for 2022. Standard Medicare Part B monthly premiums will increase to $170.10 for 2022, up from $148.50 in 2021.
CMS points out the increase is due to statutory requirements to prepare for expenses, prior Congressional action in the Continuing Appropriations Act, and the need to maintain a contingency reserve for unanticipated increases in healthcare spending.
CMS also notes that most people with Medicare will see a 5.9 percent cost-of-living adjustment in their 2022 Social Security benefits, which should more than cover the increase in their Medicare Part B monthly premium.
Additionally, the annual deductible for Medicare Part B beneficiaries increases from $203 in 2021 to $233 in 2022.
